The Green on Red vet, a ripping guitarist and songwriting buddy of Alejandro Escoveda, has written a song cycle about San Francisco for his 13th solo album, Temple Beautiful. There’s too much borrowed from the Kinks and Reed here to break major new ground, but the stripped-down, tense rocker is very well crafted and a welcome change from the norm.
