Hope takes many forms – faith, love, glasses half full, lessons learned, April flowers… – and as hard as it is to find sometimes, somewhere there’s a place we all belong. (As Kate Bush tells a beaten and broken Peter Gabriel in Don’t Give Up)

And from my friend Margo on FB:
For me #1 is the Mary Ellen Carter by the late Stan Rogers.
“And you to whom adversity has dealt the final blow
With smiling bastards lying to you every where you go
Turn to and put out all your strength of arm and heart and brain
And like the Mary Ellen Carter, rise again.”

Nice choons, bro! Couple of gospel suggestions that’d fit (yes, I know, but the whole raison d’etre of gospel is to be memorable and catchy)
Aaron Neville doing Amazing Grace – any version, really, but the one with Maria Muldauer from the Cow Palace in 1989 stands out because, counterintuitively, her voice is the strong undercurrent to his floaty swoops and ripples* – and Catfish Keith covering By And By I’m Gonna See The King. If to hear the latter you have to sit through Catfish’s version of ‘Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground’, which he usually plays as a segue, so much the better!
On the subject of rain as something to celebrate, Ladysmith Black Mombazo’s ‘Beautiful Rain’ jumps out, but I also like Buddy Guy’s handling of ‘It Feels Like Rain’.

Hope all’s well, buddy, and happy 2024 to you and yours.

Great suggestions. I have some Catfish Keith, but not those so I shall go hunting.

Take care. Hope the year is kind to you WB
